Hello, and thanks for dropping by!
I created this MySpace profile for you, to get to know me…

WHO IS CHUCK WHETSTONE ANYWAY?

Hi. You may be asking, “Who is Chuck Whetstone?”  I am a minister/musician/internet marketing advisor, and mentor, who is passionate about life and improving the lives of those I come in contact with. Whether it’s singing and playing the music I love, or teaching in a classroom, or telling others about my business opportunities, my goal is to educate, entertain, and let others emulate my winning attitude. My goal in life is to be a walking reward to everyone I meet and to bring abundance into many lives.  I have found that success is not limited by age, sex, race, nationality, body type, or education. If you believe — you can achieve.

I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana but my family moved to South Texas while I was very young.  I grew up in a great home in a small Texas town.  It was almost like the TV show, Leave It To Beaver:  my dad was the bread-winner while my mom stayed at home and cooked and cleaned; my older sister and I had a great life.  My parents took me to church and taught me about love for God, my family, and others.  We were taught the Golden Rule and expected to obey it.  We were not rich, but we had just enough.

My dad was always trying to improve his situation, on his job, on his side ventures, and in personal development.  He attended Dale Carnegie meetings and learned public speaking.  I also remember he hosted an Amway meeting in our small living room.  I vividly remember someone drawing 5 or 6 circles on a chalkboard.  I don’t know if he ever joined this MLM business, but I do remember seeing some soap powders and cleaning supplies around the house.

Lets fast forward…

My own career began when I was twenty-two when I took my first church position.  Over the last thirty years of doing ministry I have enjoyed being able to help people through my music, teaching, and love.  My Life Scripture Verse is Psalms 89:1, “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make know Thy faithfulness to all generations.”

In my lifetime I have always been much like my dad in trying to improve my financial situation.  I, too, searched through countless MLM programs.  I even made a few dollars, but outspent more than I ever brought in.  I have made my lists of 100 names, I have talked to my friends, family and coworkers.  I have attended meetings in homes, conference rooms, restaurants and hotels.  I have been lied to and scammed by a well-meaning friend.  I even bought product that stayed on my back porch for years and was never used.  I have bought the weightloss powders, vitamins, and juice.  I’ve had my websites, pay per clicks, and coop lead campaigns. I’ve ordered and downloaded countless hours of audio and ebooks, software and course materials.  I have never had real success.

So I started searching for answers …

What happened next was clearly the work of God Almighty …

I found out that you could use *MYSPACE* and *YOUTUBE* as a marketing tool for any business!!

What software do you recommend for retirement planning?

Posted on Aug 30, 2008 under Retirement Planning | 1 Comment

What formula should be used to ascertain if your investments will hold out and how much to budget for retirement?

There are many on-line calculators that can help you with this. In the August 2007 issue of Kiplinger's recommends that you use one that is based on a Monte Carlo simulator. They reviewed 5 different ones. I've used the ones at Financial Engines and MoneyChimp and found them very helpful. As the name implies a Monte Carlo simulator, does not give you a fixed answer but rather it gives your odds of success and, in the case of MoneyChimp, shows a graph of the number of years into retirement your IRA/401/etc should last. MoneyChimp also explains, in more detail than most of us would want to know, why a Monte Carlo simulator is required and how it works. These details are likely only useful to those with higher mathematical interest.

has anybody read rich dad poor dad the retire young and rich one?

Posted on Aug 30, 2008 under Retire Rich | 3 Comments

did it inspire you? what is your thoughts on it? what is the best lesson you took from that book?

I learned a LOT!

1) If you work for a salary, you pay a lot of tax before your expenses are paid. If you have a business, don't pay much tax because your expenses are deducted from your tax!

2) The Cash-flow quadrant is a great model for understanding how people make money. You will finally understand why some people get rich and others don't.

3) It's a great introduction to the world of finances - not too tough to read, and quite entertaining too. Well written.

How can I connect to my home internet connection from work?

Posted on Aug 30, 2008 under Work From Home | 2 Comments

My work has an extremely restrictive firewall that actually gets in the way of my work. I'm wondering how I can connect to the internet connection at my house from work. I bring my labtop to work and leave my desktop at home. Is there a way to connect to the internet through my home desktop computer from my work labtop computer? Thank you.
I have remote desktop and know how to use it. However, my husband needs the computer at home while I'm at work because he works from home. So I can't use remote desktop because it takes over that computer and he can't use it then. I just need the network, I don't need the files on the computer. Is there a way to do this?

A remote desktop system will be th only way to do this. You will need a fixed IP address at home, or a subscription to dynamic dns to be able to access the machine.

When I retire what taxes should I expect?

Posted on Aug 30, 2008 under Retire | 2 Comments

When I am ready to retire and am at an age when there is no penalties for withdrawing my money, what taxes should I expect to be hit with?

I would also like to know the low, median, and high tax bracket (percenatage) I could end up in if anyone knows.

I do not live in a state with incomet tax either.

Thanks you!

You can withdraw from an IRA or 401K at 59-1/2 without penalties. Once you turn 70-1/2, you MUST withdraw a certain percentage each year. The amount you withdraw is taxable, if the money was put in pre-tax. Withdrawals from a Roth IRA are not taxable.

Your social security might or might not be taxable, depending on your other income. The most that would be taxable is 85% of what you get, not all of what you get. There's a fairly complicated formula to figure how much of your social security is taxable.

If you get a pension, it's taxed as ordinary income, just like your salary was. And any other income you have, like interest or dividends, is taxed just like it was before you retired.

If you're 65 or over, you get a slightly higher standard deduction than you do if you're under 65.

From there, taxes work just like before you retire. You add up all your income, subtract any adjustments, exemptions and deductions, then the tax calculation is the same as before. Brackets range from 10% to 35%. If you have long term capital gains, you get a break on the percentage tax you pay on those.
